HOW TO TRAVEL CHEAP
Most people think that traveling is a very luxurious thing and that it is necessary to have a lot of savings. Lives in fear: it's the right time, there won't be enough money, you need to plan a lot, who to travel with, you're too young, etc. Which is not entirely true. Of course, I'm not talking about trips to South, North America, Australia, or far Asia, but if you're from Europe, traveling all over Europe is much cheaper than most people imagine. I will share tips on how to save a lot of money, and where to find the cheapest flights, accommodation, and train tickets. You will see that even traveling to several countries is not expensive if you know where to look for the right information and resources.
When I started traveling, I realized that plane tickets can be found for just 10-20 euros, overnight stays are free in every country, and train tickets around Europe are 15-30 euros each. I was saved by 5 must-use discoveries:
1. SKYSCANNER
2. COUCHSURFING
3. GOOGLE ITINERARIES
4. EURAIL.COM
5. FLIXBUS / FLIXTRAIN
SKYSCANNER
Skyscanner is a great way to save tons of time searching for the CHEAPEST flights across all airlines. With the help of this page, you no longer need to check each airline separately. You enter from which airport you want to fly (if you are from Lithuania, you must try from Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga, maybe even Riga). Then I click "explore everywhere" (unless you have selected a specific country). And choose the dates.
For example, next week there is a flight from Vilnius to Poland for 9 euros. To Sweden for 6 euros! :D
Norway - 7 euros, Estonia, Croatia, Albania, Greece, Italy, Romania - up to 20 euros.
The earlier you buy, the cheaper it is. Skyscanner acts as an intermediary between airlines. If the tickets are so cheap (as much as a couple of beers) and you can find accommodation for free, then how come traveling is expensive? :D
2. COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfing is an app where you can find someone who offers travelers their bed in their home for free! For one, two, three, four nights. This is a great opportunity not only to save a lot of money but also to make friends, learn more about the country's culture, people, places, traditions, recommendations on where to go, what to do, etc. Also, most people offer their company on hangout.
Several tips:
Send requests to as many people as possible. Even sending out requests to 100 people at once will increase the chances
Verifying your account will also increase the chances that you will be accepted
In your profile, write as much as possible about yourself, your interests, and goals, and answer the given questions
Personal messages to hosters help a lot
Send requests to people who have a lot of reviews and references.
And it costs nothing! This app is designed more for those who travel from country to country and stay for 1-2 nights.
You can also offer your home to other travelers in exchange.
There are also events on Couchsurfing, for example, someone organizes a party somewhere, or I saw a post that one guy with a van is traveling around the world and is looking for company.
3. GOOGLE ITINERARIES
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE TO PLAN OR CAN'T DECIDE WHERE TO TRAVEL, just take a look and google:
"itinerary in Europe for 2 weeks"
"itinerary in Scandinavian countries for 1 week"
"itinerary across Mediterranean countries for 4 days"
Read the blogs, EVERYTHING will be written there, from where to travel, what to see, visit, what transport to use, what train ticket to buy, what next country to go to. And for you, everything is planned from A-Z for a certain period, through certain countries, whatever you want.
4. EURAIL.COM
EURAIL is an app. Did you know that trains all over Europe are so cheap? :D All that remains is to buy a Eurail pass and travel from country to country! Through this app you can create your own personal route, the app arranges all train tickets, eand verything can be bought at once.
Travel to over 40,000 destinations, unlimited travel, and take as many trains as you like from midnight to midnight on each of your travel days, whichever Pass you choose.
Your Eurail Pass lets you hop on and off most trains as you please instead of buying individual tickets. Your Eurail Pass is your ticket. Activate it before you go, then fill in all your details before you board each train.
This is an amazing thing, so easy, so simple and cheappp
5. FLIXBUS / FLIXTRAIN
TRAINS AND BUSES FROM COUNTRY TO COUNTRY FOR 8-40 EUROS. Thanks to Indre for this discovery <3
For example, when I looked at the tickets for the coming week, the ticket from Denmark to Germany was 13 euros, from Germany to Luxembourg - 11 euros, from Luxembourg to Belgium - 13 euros, and from Belgium to the Netherlands - 17 euros. Flixbus / Flixtrain is the most convenient and cheapest to use if you want to travel in order from one country to another. Also in that country, you can go around the whole country with flixbus / flixbus for an inexpensive price!
The more you look for ways to travel cheaply, the more discoveries you find. I believe I still don't know much and haven't discovered much myself, but especially traveling AROUND EUROPE is super super cheap if you buy tickets as early as possible and take advantage of all the offers and discounts.
In countries LIVE IN THE HOSTELS, BUY CHEAPEST FOOD AND HITCHHIKE EVERYWHERE!
And lastly, you can consider organisations like "Workaway", "Worldpackers", "WOOF", "TUI", "Aupair", "Solidarity Corps" and many other which offers endless possibilities and offers you bed and food for free.
